Abstract

Ultraviolet (UV) light can be a major factor in skin problems such as aging,13
erythema, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, dermatitis and skin cancer. Natural14
chemicals such as polyphenols as flavonoids from natural ingredients can be an15
alternative anti-aging products. Development of dosage forms in the form of16
anti-aging cream is needed so that it can be used by the public. The aim of this17
research is to determine the concentration of Averrhoa bilimbi extract that can18
provide good anti-aging properties. Averrhoa bilimbi was extracted with 70%19
ethanol by remaceration. W/O cream preparation was made with various20
concentrations of F1 (1%), F2 (3%), and F3 (5%) with Averrhoa bilimbi extracts.21
The cream was tested for characteristics such as organoleptic, homogeneity, pH22
and viscosity. Irritation test was conducted on animals. All creams were also23
evaluated for its anti-aging effects with parameters of sebum, moisture,24
pigment, pore, elasticity, and collagen fibers with skin analyzer on human25
subjects who had used the cream for 30 days. The results showed that F3 has26
the best anti-aging effect by increasing moisture, reducing pigmentation,27
shrinking pores, and increasing skin elasticity. After statistical testing of t-test28
on each anti-aging parameter, F3 anti-aging cream has been proven to be29
effective in having the potential to reduce skin pores and increase skin30
elasticity.31
