FORMULASI DAN KARAKTERISTIK FISIK SERUM EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN KELOR (Moringa oleifera Lam.) SEBAGAI ANTIJERAWAT
Abstract
Acne is a common skin problem caused by excessive sebum production, follicular hyperkeratinization, inflammation, and bacterial colonization of Propionibacterium acnes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermis. Ethanol extract of moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera Lam.) is known to inhibit acne-causing bacteria, making it a potential active ingredient in anti-acne serum. This study aimed to determine the effect of varying concentrations of moringa leaf ethanol extract on the physical characteristics of serum preparations and to identify the best concentration. The method used was a laboratory experiment with remaceration using 96% ethanol. Formulations were made in three concentrations: FI 5%, FII 10%, and FIII 15%, then evaluated for organoleptic properties, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, adhesion, and spreadability. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26 (95% confidence level). Results showed no significant difference (p>0.05) in viscosity and spreadability among formulas, pH between FII vs FIII, and adhesion between FI vs FII and FII vs FIII. Significant differences were found in pH (FI vs FII and FI vs FIII) and adhesion (FI vs FIII). Higher extract concentrations resulted in more acidic pH, increased viscosity and adhesion, and decreased spreadability. The formula with the best physical characteristics was FI at 5% extract concentration.
